چکیده

Voice inverse filtering is a process in which the effects of the vocal tract are cancelled from the speech signal to estimate the airflow through the glottis. Although inverse filtering has many applications in both research and clinical examination of voice production, few voice inverse filtering software packages exist. In the present paper, we propose a flexible software package, HUT Voice Source Analysis and Parametrisation Toolkit (Aparat) for use in the MATLAB environment. It implements glottal inverse filtering and several time-based parameters of the voice source in a graphical user interface. The software package is available under an open source licence at http://www.acoustics.hut.fi/software/aparat/.

Estimation of the voice source from speech pressure signals: evaluation of an inverse filtering technique using physical modelling of voice production.

OBJECTIVE The goal of the study is to use physical modelling of voice production to assess the performance of an inverse filtering method in estimating the glottal flow from acoustic speech pressure signals. METHODS An automatic inverse filtering method is presented, and speech pressure signals are generated using physical modelling of voice production so as to obtain test vowels with a known...

Vibrato in Singing Voice: The Link between Source-Filter and Sinusoidal Models

The application of inverse filtering techniques for high-quality singing voice analysis/synthesis is discussed. In the context of source-filter models, inverse filtering provides a noninvasive method to extract the voice source, and thus to study voice quality. Although this approach is widely used in speech synthesis, this is not the case in singing voice. Several studies have proved that inve...

Parameterisation Methods of the Glottal Flow Estimated by Inverse Filtering

Estimation of the source of voiced speech, the glottal volume velocity waveform, with inverse filtering involves usually a parameterisation stage, where the obtained flow waveforms are expressed in numerical forms. This stage of the voice source analysis, the parameterisation of the glottal flow, is discussed in the present paper. The paper aims to give a review on the different methods develop...

Comparison of two inverse filtering methods in parameterization of the glottal closing phase characteristics in different phonation types.

SUMMARY Inverse filtering (IF) is a common method used to estimate the source of voiced speech, the glottal flow. This investigation aims to compare two IF methods: one manual and the other semiautomatic. Glottal flows were estimated from speech pressure waveforms of six female and seven male subjects producing sustained vole /a/ in breathy, normal, and pressed phonation. The closing phase char...

Source Model Adequacy for Pathological Voice Synthesis

Pathological voices are particularly difficult to inverse filter and fit with source models, in part, because of source-tract interactions inherent in these voice types. In order to obtain good synthetic copies of these voices, we need to know the practical importance of accurately inverse filtering and modeling individual voice sources. To this end, thirty different voices were synthesized, ea...
